Impulse

We do not always understand what we want to express before we begin expressing it.

Sometimes a thought develops through action rather than preceding it. A spontaneous gesture can reveal something that conscious reflection has not yet managed to formulate.

Impulse approaches movement as a form of thinking. Each gesture responds to what came before, changing the direction of what follows. The composition develops through this process rather than illustrating a predetermined idea.

Here, expression comes before understanding.
