Syntax
We tend to associate understanding with the ability to explain. Yet some experiences change the moment we try to put them into words.
Syntax explores the possibility of expressing what exists beyond language. Connection, stability, emergence, silence, and impulse become different ways of experiencing and interpreting reality.
None of these states is more complete or meaningful than another. They coexist, sometimes contradicting each other, just as they do within us.
Perhaps not everything we understand needs to be explained.
A series of five works. Acrylic on paper and canvas.
Syntax is a series about expressing what cannot be adequately put into words.
Using a limited visual vocabulary of black brushstrokes and white space, five compositions develop their own ways of communicating. Lines intersect, follow a common direction, break into fragments, or move freely across the surface.
Each arrangement suggests a different state of mind. The same simple elements can convey complexity, stability, uncertainty, restraint, or spontaneity, depending on how they interact.
There are no hidden messages to decode or fixed meanings to discover. The works invite a more immediate kind of understanding, where something can be felt and recognized without necessarily being named.
